Vacation???

Okay puppers, mom wants to go on a vacation this spring but it has to be somewhere that is dog friendly.  She doesn’t want to fly but drive.  I don’t want to fly either but I also don’t like taking long trips because sometimes it upset my tummy.  This would be my first official vacation, she says she doesn’t want me to be stressed because vacations are for relaxing and having fun.  I have the true scottie temperament I am leery of new people and places.  She has thought about renting a cabin at Beavers Bend in Broken Bow, Oklahoma and she hasn’t ruled it out but been there done that.  She isn’t looking for anything fancy just somewhere to relax and kick back, not really interested in taking in all the sights if I can’t partake in it.  She thought maybe Susie and Sidebits might know some place in Oklahoma or maybe Casey and Cinderella would know somewhere here in Texas.  She even thought about somewhere in Arkansas or Louisiana.  I won’t lie she had been telling me that we were going to Galveston to the beach but when it got closer to the time she backed out partly because she and dad are workaholics but she also hates driving through Houston.  She said she might have to suck it up and just do it if she can’t come up with something better.  If anyone has any suggestion please suggest away.

  1. Sorry, we have enough trouble in Oz trying to find a dog friendly place....where we want to go and for how much we want to pay...

Good luck. We think the beach would be GREAT!

    1. Austin is about 5 hrs south of us. Our email address is on the barkday calendar and on the Christmas card list we would love some ideas.

  3. I've heard that Midland-Odessa is the garden spot of the world. You can take it to the bank because someone from Lubbock said it.

Texas Parks and Wildlife magazine lists some dog friendly state parks...

  10. Mum really liked San Antonio when she was there, but since she selfishly left me in Nebraska, she cannot vouch for it's dog friendliness...

  11. We thinks you should come to Keosauqua Iowa cos we have lots of lakes, and the river, so wesa could go fishing, and there is a big cannon right next to ours house, and we could practice shooting you out of it, and well the list just goes on and on....

  12. Hmmm, I am more of a camping Cairn myself and not really big on the beach even though I live in Florida. However, I do LOVE St. Augustine because they are over-the-top dog-friendly and it is relaxing there.

  14. Oh we like going to Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill in Harrodsburg, Kentucky for our retreat. They have become dog friendly. It is our cup of tea. You know Susie and Sudebite would probably allow you to stay in their hiddey hole if Oklahome is your cup of tea.
    Thanks for being a friend

  15. Ok, you asked, try the Quartz Mountain Lodge at Lake Altus, about 15 miles north of Altus. Nice Lodge, good food, show they have a golf course, Dad has camped in the park and had a week end ride. They have also gone down there for New Years Eve party (580)563-2424

  16. Vacations with Scotties are always fun! I once went to San Antonio, Texas but couldn't bring Heather and Mr. K along since I flew. Next time I go to Texas, it'll have to be an extended road trip so they can experience it, too. Let us know where you end up going! Much love, The Scottie Mom.
